Patients’ voices on the ImmUniverse clinical study
ImmUniverse conducts a clinical study at different sites across Europe with the aim to improve the quality of life for people living with atopic dermatitis and ulcerative colitis and ultimately those with other immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. This will be achieved through a more personalised treatment tailored to each individual patient.
Patients enrolled in the study have kindly shared their experiences with us:
- What motivates you to participate in the study?
“To make progress in the research of my disease. To develop even better therapies. To support other people who come later than me with the disease even better through the new findings.”
“Patient questionnaires for self-reflection 'Researcher's urge' - using the opportunity to be able to produce new knowledge.”
“To become healthy”
- What is your biggest challenge in living with ulcerative colitis?
“Acceptance from other people, i.e. understanding that you are not well. Constant thoughts during an episode where to find a toilet.”
“Acceptance of the disease and adapting my life to the disease and not overriding it.”
“The change of life in terms of work, financial provision, as nothing works without a toilet nearby.”
- How is your quality of life in relation to ulcerative colitis?
“It is limited. Especially in a relapse. Scheduling time for doctor's visits, pain, not being able to leave the house because of fear or the fact of always having to go to the loo.”
“Currently clearly limited due to the renewed relapse - but otherwise generally good.”
“Greatly deteriorated. No more freedom. Constant pain.”
- ImmUniverse aims to improve the understanding of each patient's needs and develop more effective and personalised treatment options through the use of non-invasive technologies. What do you hope this innovative approach will do for you and for other patients?
“That it is getting better and better to integrate the respective therapies for patients in everyday life.”
“Individual treatment based on molecular biology data; more inclusion of psyche/mindset; nutrition; relaxation; lifestyle; change as part of therapy in direct combination with medication”
