ImmUniverse showcases LIPUS Innovation at UEG Week 2025 in Berlin

The ImmUniverse consortium is proud to highlight the work of Samuel Elias Pineda Chavez from Humanitas University, who presented new findings on Low-Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound (LIPUS) during the inaugural DDM Summit at UEG Week 2025 in Berlin.

In his presentation, Samuel shared the latest advances in exploring LIPUS as a non-invasive technology for improved monitoring of ulcerative colitis (UC), a major step towards improving how disease activity is monitored in patients, an alternative to the traditional biopsy procedure.

Samuel is also featured in a recently released ImmUniverse video, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the LIPUS approach is being developed and tested within the project. The film showcases the laboratory work and scientific dedication that are driving this innovative research forward.

The first clinical study using LIPUS in UC patients is currently underway in Milan, coordinated by Humanitas Research Hospital and San Raffaele Hospital. This study will evaluate whether LIPUS can enable non-invasive, patient-friendly disease monitoring, a key milestone for ImmUniverse’s mission to better understand and track immune-mediated diseases.
